I wish…

The noise would stop, the bickering would stop. Initially, it was exciting to read about the latest political scandal or gossip. Who taruh who, who tikam so-and-so… Then, I thought that all entertainment news paled in comparison to our own political entertainment.

Now, it just gets tired. I’m tired of reading the accusations. But that doesn’t mean that I’m still not concern about the affairs of the society. Things have just gotten so personal. Politicians who are sincere about helping people should concentrate more on overcoming the problem, fixing things, finding solutions. Not play the blaming game and drive the people to join your heated furore. Yes, we complain, but more effort should be used to make constructive solutions work. Not yell your heads off at rallies. I don’t mind rallies, if they are with a purpose. And the purpose will lead to action. No point just talking cock.

You can dig up people’s dirty laundry, but please don’t sensationalize it. As though all of the current affairs hinge unto the outcome of this unpleasant news. Maybe it affects in a major way, but then, it shouldn’t overshadow the more pressing issues of the society. I think parties will score better points with the people if they have visible results of their efforts to tackle urgent life-concerning issues. And don’t just solely play the blame game. Blame this party lar for this problem… Yes, but there is only so much you can blame before the fuel runs out. I always feel that if you’re faced with a mountain, you complain, then find a way to maneuver around it. Be smart, use strategy. Don’t just blindly ram. The mountain might be hard to ram off, but it is possible to conquer its peak.

I’ve moved, again. The last time I did that was when I shifted base from Penang to Seremban. Now, due to an upcoming project, I’m in KL. TTDI (Tmn Tun Dr. Ismail) to be exact. Well, for people who don’t know where it is, it’s the neighbourhood next to Bandar Utama. Sometimes I get so frustrated explaining to people where TTDI is, because, it is actually a pretty big neighbourhood, we’ve been there even before Bandar Utama was named. Sometimes, I get so frustrated, I tell people I live in Bandar Utama, just to save my few ounces of saliva.

So just a notification to all, I’m back in KL, let me know if you’ve any exciting events. Sure be nice to hang out with KL folks again.

Am now watching Private Practice, a spin-off from Grey’s Anatomy. I kinda like watching it not because I’m a Grey’s fan. But Taye Diggs is in it, and he’s bald. I have a thing for bald guys, not Taye Diggs. Somehow it’s just so appealing. And coincidentally, in this episode, he appeared on a TV show and was telling his show patient that ‘bald is beautiful’. I think so too. Let’s see, my past bald hunks: Fabian Bartez, Arnold Vosloo, Vin Diesel. But, the baldness should go with a body that is pumped up. If not, it’s just not balanced, in my opinion. I don’t like balding guys, but completely bald ones. Ok, this better stop before ppl start thinking I have a crazy obsession for baldness.

Ta-daa!!! My eyes are on this… the baru in-stores Pearls before swine comic. Yesterday, I was at the Curve, had a sneak peak after getting one of the staff to buka the wrapping for me. Well, as usual, you get the same thread of humour… and I think there is a running commentary at the bottom of each strip. For PBS, even the foreword in each of the series is worth a read. So, don’t skip reading the foreword by Pastis, cause sometimes, it gives much revelation on how he learned to draw they way he’s drawing now.

Me? I made a solemn vow to not get anything pricey for myself until I get my paycheck. So, yeah, this and other stuff on my wish list will have to wait. Hi, I’m going to write about…… *crap. wat is it i wanna write?*

Mental block. Ask every Tom, Dick and Hairy writer and they will tell you the same thing. It happens. Blocks that seem to come out of nowhere, at the appropriate time when you’re about to write something astronomical. Some describe it as a loss of words, loss of ideas. To me, it’s just a plain smack into a brick wall. Nothing comes out of the brain no matter how much I perah it. I’m pretty familiar with this because back in uni, I took creative writing classes and script writing classes… itellyou… jahanam betul when you have a writing assignment due the next 10 hours. I’ve sat down, scribbling and typing page after page of sudden-brilliant-inspiration-that-seemed-dumb-the-next-moment ideas. Frustration is boiling at the peak of its boundary. Of course, if the block is out of the way, everything seems perfect and the 3 hours spent on writing it will seem like a mere 30 minutes. Then, at the end, when I read through it again, it’s another crossroad. Sometimes, the final draft is a great piece of work. That’s good, I’m safe, and I can sleep. If it’s crap, that’s worse than finding out WHILE you’re writing it. It means…square one all over again. However, I’ve had rare few chances which I managed to churn out A-grade assignments in less than 5 hours from due time. Yes, I’m THAT brilliant. And when I get them back, I’m shocked, but nonetheless proud that I genetically inherited the sudden brilliance from someone down my family.

Now, this doesn’t make sense. The theme for this post should be about mental block, why on earth am I going on and on about my A-grade assignments. Well, tonight, as I sit in front of my laptop and stare at wordpress, I’m having that mental block I get whenever I wanna write a post. You see, when I’m not at the laptop, I think a lot, and I have lots of things that I wanna put in writing. So I get all excited about landing on another profound topic that I can put on my blog. So as fast as I could, I will try to get my hands onto the internet and wordpress. Then, I sit and put my fingers on the keyboard… and I’m stuck. I have no freaking idea on what to write. Or, I could only compose half of the post in my head.

So, I did a short analysis. Why did it happen? I think I think too much. Yes. I think of important things to write, interesting ways to write them, a unique presentation to express my thoughts. That I thought, could be the jarring screw that is causing the block. So, as I sat in front of the laptop 20 minutes ago, the same mental block occured, taunting that I could never strike gold numerous times. Then I remembered a friend saying something about writing. When we don’t know what to write, just start writing something, anything, it can be rubbish or just redundant facts. And then the rest of it will just flow. Come to think of it, I think she said it in the context of writing essays for exams. Just kelentong saje.

So, that’s what I’m doing exactly. I knew I wanted to write about this mental block I kept having. And I couldnt write about the mental block cause I was HAVING a mental block. So, what the heck, following my friend’s advice, I wrote about the first thing that reminded me about mental block: me having mental block while doing assignments. Ta-da…. so you see, you guys were lucky to read about my within-5-hours-A-grade-assignments adventure. That was a bonus. Yeah, yeah, I’m crapping here. But that’s the point. I guess I needed to crap out the rubbish to get to the essence of things. So what is the essence of this entry? My mental block can cured by crapping first. Ahhhh….a full circle…

Okay, before you guys start throwing virtual rotten tomatoes at my self-obsessiveness. I shall stop. But I tell you, it works. So, when you hit the pitt where no dictionary, thesaurus or essay books can help you write, crap!

It just got interesting… and it keeps getting better…

Malaysian politics promise nothing short of suspenseful, dramatic, impulsive, aggressive and entertaining. Our nation’s dirty laundries are out there for the world to see. Gone are the cuti-cuti Malaysia campaigns, everyone just realized that nothing is as rosy as the Merdeka parade you see every August. I have an interesting theory to share, but not now, as I’m tired… so…(to be continued, stay tuned)

The ‘Robin Hood’ of petrol

KAPAR: When a petrol kiosk owner stepped out to run some errands, his newly hired pump attendant started giving out free petrol.

Someone alerted the owner about an unusually long line of cars at his kiosk, the owner rushed back to discover he had lost about RM3,000 worth of petrol.

According to a kiosk worker, the man in his 30s had asked for a job and was employed at RM12 per day.

“Yesterday (Wednesday) was his third day. Being confident he could do the job, the owner left to pay some bills and within the hour and a half the owner was away, the man gave out free petrol,” the other worker said.

Word of the free petrol spread and people took the opportunity to fill up their tanks.

The man ran off when he saw his employer return. It was later found out that he was mentally unsound.

No police report was lodged.

Something to laugh about in these times of expensive petrol. Alas, poor owner.
